REMAIN — Privacy Policy

REMAIN ("the app," "we," "our," "us") is an AI sermon notetaker. This Privacy Policy explains what information REMAIN collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

REMAIN collects only what is necessary to function.

a. Audio Recordings. When you tap Record, REMAIN captures audio using your device microphone. Audio is used only to generate your transcript and notes.

b. Transcripts and Notes. Your transcript and AI-generated notes are stored on your device and synced through your private Apple iCloud account to your other Apple devices.

c. Optional Metadata. If you enter information such as a default church name, speaker name, or personal notes, this is stored locally on your device.

d. Subscription Information. If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment. We do not see or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat to verify your subscription status.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data solely to:

Transcribe your recordings
Generate study notes
Sync your library across your Apple devices via iCloud
Verify your subscription

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third Parties

REMAIN shares data with the following services only to provide the app's core functionality:

a. OpenAI (Whisper) — your audio is sent for transcription. OpenAI does not use submitted data to train its models. Privacy Policy

b. Anthropic (Claude) — the transcript is sent to generate your notes. Anthropic does not use submitted data to train its models. Privacy Policy

c. Apple (iCloud, App Store, StoreKit) — Apple syncs your data across your devices via iCloud and processes subscription purchases.

d. RevenueCat — used to manage and verify your subscription entitlement. Privacy Policy

e. Supabase — REMAIN routes API requests to OpenAI and Anthropic through Supabase. Audio and transcript data pass through Supabase but are not stored on Supabase servers.

4. Data Retention

Your audio recordings, transcripts, and notes are stored on your device and in your private iCloud account. We do not store this content on our servers. You can delete recordings and notes inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all local data; iCloud data can be removed via your iCloud settings.

5. Data Security

REMAIN uses standard HTTPS encryption for all network traffic. Local data is protected by iOS security features. iCloud data is protected by Apple's security infrastructure.

6. Children's Privacy

REMAIN is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights

You can:

Delete recordings, transcripts, and notes inside the app
Delete the app to remove all locally stored data
Manage iCloud data through your iOS Settings
Manage or cancel subscriptions through your App Store account

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date above will reflect the last update.
